The Online LCL Freight Calculator for Affordable International Shipping from the USA

It calculates international shipping costs in minutes.

If you plan to ship boxes, crates, or pallets from the USA abroad, use the online LCL freight calculator above.

LCL stands for "Less than Container Load." It is designed to deliver overseas goods that cannot fill an entire 40-foot container.

Select your destination country to calculate global transportation costs of boxes, crates, and pallets. It works perfectly for experienced exporters and first-time shippers seeking low-cost international shipping solutions and accurate freight rates.

It is also an excellent tool for delivering overseas sizable orders purchased on Amazon, eBay, or virtually any seller in the United States. With this digital online tool, you can access the business in any country listed on the calculator. It’s a valuable resource for anyone seeking inexpensive global transportation options without needing to contact a traditional international shipping company immediately.

Click on the picture below to watch a three-minute YouTube video about how the calculation works.

affordable international shipping

With this calculator, you can schedule affordable cargo delivery overseas using LCL to virtually any location worldwide 24/7. Access to our website is all you need to initiate your shipment immediately, eliminating the need for an international shipping company when considering global transportation options. Our website offers various payment options after you have quoted and booked a shipment. It supports the smooth flow of online documentation, helping to simplify your global freight charges management and logistics planning.

Three Options for Cargo Deliveries in the USA

As you calculate an international shipping cost with this LCL sea freight calculator, you may decide to self-deliver your boxes, crates, or pallets to the nearest terminal or request to pick up (collect) them at your location.

If you will self-deliver your boxes, crates, or pallets to the nearest terminal, then note the essential difference between U.S. terminals WITH or WITHOUT ASTERISK (*) as it is listed in the drop-down menu of terminals in the USA in the online calculator

  • Terminals highlighted in upper case and listed without asterisks (e.g., ATLANTA, GA) are direct ocean carrier facilities, professionally referred to as CFS - Container Freight Stations.

Freight rates for shipments self-delivered directly to the ocean carrier's terminals (CFSs) are only based on their size (overall chargeable volume per cubic meter). WEIGHT FOR SUCH SHIPMENTS IS NOT A PRICING FACTOR unless its density exceeds the limit nominated by the carrier, which is most often equal to 1654 lbs (or 750 Kilograms) per Cubic Meter. If you ship regular commodities, the weight of your load will likely not exceed the limit. When you submit documents related to your shipment, U.S. Customs requires you to estimate the weight for statistical purposes only.

Keep in mind that when transporting goods from the USA with LCL, self-delivery directly to the ocean carriers' terminals (CFSs) is the most economical way to ship internationally. It makes such shipments the most affordable option for global transportation of boxes, crates, or pallets. There will be no additional expenses to take a load on board the vessel.

  • Terminals marked WITH asterisks and in lowercase (Akron, OH*, for example) are local U.S. domestic LTL carriers' terminals. Loads delivered to such terminals must be transferred (line hauled) to an ocean carrier's facility (CFS). In other words, cargo deliveries to LTL warehouses are subject to additional U.S. domestic line-haul charges, in addition to the sea freight, thereby increasing the overall cost of international shipping.

If you cannot deliver your cargo to a terminal, you may ask someone to do it on your behalf. You do not need to be represented in person during the delivery.

  • Eventually, with this calculator, you can also request to PICK UP (collect) your load at your location. Then, a pickup charge will be added to your international shipping cost.

The pickup cost will be calculated based on the ZIP code (U.S. postal code) of your cargo location entered in the final step of the global delivery charges calculation.

If you need a pickup, select an appropriate option in the 'Do you need a pickup?' drop-down menu. Select the type of goods and the pickup location, whether they are commercial goods or personal belongings.

Shippers should be aware that U.S. domestic Line Haul and Pickup charges are based on dimensional weight and freight class. For more information on dimensional weight and the class, please visit this link.

At the end of the calculation, enter your ZIP code to obtain an international shipping cost, including the pickup option. Please provide a valid email address and submit your price quote request online. You should receive our reply email with the complete quote momentarily.

How do I find the address and contact information?

The online calculator features an advanced database containing various freight rates from different transportation companies, including global cargo consolidators (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers, NVOCCs) and U.S. domestic Less-than-Truckload (LTL) carriers involved in export from the USA.

Each carrier has an exclusive terminal within a city zone. Terminals are located in cities that are listed in the online freight calculator. You should see the terminal addresses in the calculator when you get an international shipping cost. See the screenshot above.

However, upon booking, the terminal address and the contact phone number must be reconfirmed for every shipment. This information will be reconfirmed in the email with our instructions.

In other words, we will initiate your shipment upon receipt of your booking request, submitted online via the price quote obtained from the calculator, along with the deposit payment. We will match the terminal provided with the price quote to the up-to-date availability. You must not deliver your shipment to a carrier terminal until you receive our email with instructions and your dock receipt (and, if necessary, the LTL carrier's bill of lading).

With our instructions, you can deliver your boxes, crates, or pallets to the terminal of the assigned carrier to initiate your shipment from the USA overseas. You may want to call the terminal in advance to inquire about working hours, directions, and other details, as well as your pickup conditions if a pickup is requested.

Keep in mind that when you communicate with the terminal, the key reference number for your shipment differs depending on the option that you selected at the time of booking:

  • You got the CARRIERS BOOKING NUMBER in our instructions for loads self-delivered to a sea carrier's terminal (CFS).
  • For loads self-delivered to a U.S. domestic LTL carrier's terminal, it is THE LTL CARRIER'S INLAND BILL OF LADING NUMBER.
  • If a pickup is requested, it is the unique PICKUP REFERENCE NUMBER.

Important: Transporting goods from the USA overseas is a complex process. Each shipment is unique. To eliminate misunderstandings or mistakes, you MUST NOT accept verbal statements as final (particularly on a terminal location). All commitments and promises MUST be documented in an email.

Do not deliver shipments to a terminal without completing the booking online and receiving our instructions via email. Your shipment will not be recognized and will not be accepted. You may consider the instructions a ticket for your shipment.

Other options in the online freight calculator

With this calculator, you must assign a value to the goods to calculate an international shipping cost. Depending on the value, you can consider options for filing a U.S. shipper's export declaration and maritime cargo insurance.

When calculating quotes, you estimate the value of goods. You will be able to change the value at the time of booking. Finally, the value will be declared based on the value in your commercial invoice or the valued packing list. You can prepare this essential document later. However, it must be provided before goods will be delivered to the ocean carrier's terminal (CFS).

If, for any reason, you do not have a commercial invoice, or you ship household goods or personal belongings from the USA that are not for sale, you can assign a value to your goods yourself in the form of a valued packing list or pro forma commercial invoice. With this calculator, you can submit your valued packing list/proforma commercial invoice online via the web link in our instructions.

DO NOT ATTACH ANY DOCUMENTS TO YOUR BOXES, CRATES, OR PALLETS. All documents must be submitted electronically.

U.S. Shipper's Export Declaration (SED)

While calculating price quotes with the online calculator, you select an option on the U.S. Shipper's Export Declaration.

If you ship goods from the USA with a declared value of less than US$2500, your shipment is exempt from filing the U.S. Shipper's Export Declaration. Your sea freight bill of lading will state: NO AES REQUIRED, AS CARGO VALUE UNDER $2500 (SECTION FTR 30/37A).

If the value is US$2,500 or higher, your shipment must be declared to U.S. Customs by submitting a U.S. Shipper's Export Declaration (SED).

Then, select an option for filing.

Shippers can submit a U.S. Shippers Export Declaration on their own on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website, ace.cbp.dhs.gov. Otherwise, you can select the calculator option and ask us to submit it on your behalf for the fee of $35.

To submit a U.S. Shippers Export Declaration on your behalf, we require either your consigner's U.S. Employer Identification Number (EIN) or a copy of the page in your foreign passport (not a U.S. one) that includes a photo and a clear passport number.

Note that U.S. Customs does not accept SSNs on SED filings. If you are a U.S. Citizen, you must provide an EIN or a copy of a foreign passport, not a U.S. passport. Read about U.S. SED in this link. Read about obtaining an EIN to ship goods from the U.S. valued at US$2500 and higher (if you do not have one) in this link.

Marin Cargo Insurance

Finally, this online calculator allows you to select a marine cargo insurance coverage option when calculating international shipping costs.

The insurance is optional. Make your selection at the time of quoting. You can change your mind at the time of booking. Read more about the insurance and ocean carriers' liabilities at this link.
