By selecting a destination country above, you will begin calculating international shipping costs for cargo deliveries from the United States.
Generally, ISPM 15 compliance standards impose wood-packing restrictions that prohibit the international shipping of raw, untreated wooden materials.
When shipping goods from the United States abroad, items packed in cardboard boxes must comply with global phytosanitary regulations. However:
Please note that these timber regulations apply only to the packing materials; they do not apply to the actual products being transported.
Do not confuse solid wood packing restrictions, which apply to global cargo transportation from the USA to most countries worldwide, with the mandatory fumigation requirements for goods destined for Oceania, particularly to Australia and New Zealand.
All freight transported from the USA to Oceania must undergo pest treatment. These biosecurity restrictions are known as BMSB rules. If you ship goods to Australia or New Zealand, be prepared to treat the entire shipment. We suggest allowing the ocean freight carrier used for your international logistics to fumigate your cargo. Typically, you will pay $30 per cubic meter, with a minimum charge of $100 to $300, depending on the provider. However, this approach transfers responsibilities for customs clearance and fumigation to the carrier.
Announcement: Shipping freight to Australia or New Zealand.
Your cargo must be professionally treated if you're shipping goods from the USA to Australia, New Zealand, or any country in Oceania between September 1 and April 30. This period is known as the BMSB season (Brown Marmorated Stink Bug season), during which strict quarantine regulations are enforced.
What You Need to Do:
Before your load is dispatched, you must complete and return a Fumigation Declaration. We will send you the required form as a PDF along with your shipping instructions.
Please complete, sign, and return it to us via email before your freight is delivered to the ocean terminal.
If we don't receive your declaration, your cargo will be held at the port. Storage charges will apply, and these fees are your responsibility.
The sea carrier will manage the treatment for you. The cost is typically $30–60 per weight or measurement (w/m), with a minimum charge of $200–$300 per shipment, depending on the shipping line. This cost is not included in your online quote from AMID Logistics. It will be added to the carrier's logistics cost and appear on your bill of lading.
You can arrange the treatment through a licensed fumigation company. You must provide a clear certificate that can be verified at any time during international transportation. Be cautious: Carriers and customs officials may reject invalid certificates, which could result in seizure or refusal of your load.
If your load is going to arrive in Australia or New Zealand during the BMSB season, and:
IF YOU DON'T SUBMIT A FUMIGATION DECLARATION, AND YOU DON'T PROVIDE A VALID TREATMENT CERTIFICATE, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROCESS YOUR CARGO.
